Municipal Alliance

Mission Statement

The Howell Alliance collaborates with residents, schools, town government, police, businesses, and other local organizations to prevent drug addiction, underage drinking, and tobacco use through promoting public awareness, education, outreach resources, life skills, and positive choices.
"The Howell Alliance: Building a stronger community for a better tomorrow through prevention, education and awareness.”

Alliance Purpose

Each Municipality in New Jersey is required by state statute to have a Drug & Alcohol Abuse Prevention Policy in place. The Howell Alliance plans and oversees this Policy. New Jersey funds 8.3 million dollars for over 400 Alliances statewide. The current trend shows an increase of opiate drug abuse and overdose death by young people 18 to 25 years of age. Youth suicide has also increased during the past six years.

Member Information

Alliance members are appointed to a one-year term by the Howell Township Council and consist of concerned citizens, police, teachers, school administrators, and members of area service clubs. Applications are now being accepted for appointment to the 2016 Alliance committee. Your input is important. Interested? For further information, contact 732-938-4500 ext. 4012.
