Sustainable Jersey Certified Community
Howell Township is a Sustainable Jersey certified community--one of only 210 in the state. Howell Township achieved Sustainable Jersey certification at the bronze level. Certified towns are an outstanding group of municipalities that are making important contributions toward the long-term goal of a sustainable New Jersey and world.
To become Sustainable Jersey certified, Howell Township had to complete a balance of the rigorous program’s sustainability actions. In addition, Howell Township created a green team and our application was approved for 22 actions in 9 categories for a total of 220 points. Sustainable Jersey is a nonprofit organization that provides tools, training and financial incentives to support communities as they pursue sustainability programs. By supporting community efforts to reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and improve environmental equity, Sustainable Jersey is empowering communities to build a better world for future generations. Sustainable Jersey is a voluntary program that requires no fee for the certification.
