The Township Council is aware that public turnout at the April 29, 2019 Zoning Board meeting was much greater than anticipated. In fact, during the 14 prior hearing dates for this particular application; the meeting room at Town Hall was never full. The Zoning Board is an independent part of Howell government. It is not directed or controlled by Council; its independence is a way of ensuring that it makes fair and impartial decisions on the applications before it. It is typically responsible for scheduling and conducting its own meetings. However, and in light of the need for additional space, the Township Council is working with both the Zoning Board and the Howell Township School Administration to secure a larger venue. The Council and Zoning Board want to ensure that all members of the public who wish to be heard have an opportunity to do so. We have tentatively reached an agreement with the School Administration to hold the meeting on May 20th at 7:00pm at Middle School South. The Zoning Board will provide a notice to the Asbury Park Press and Tri-Town News explaining the venue change and time of the next meeting. The applicant’s attorney will also notify all residents within 200’ of the property and place an additional notice in the newspaper. Furthermore, the application was carried to the May 13th Zoning Board meeting where the Zoning Board will officially announce to the public that the meeting will be held on May 20th at 7:00pm at Middle School South.
