[ARCHIVED] Important Recycling Update

Effective February 3, 2020,  recycling that is placed in plastic bags or that contains plastic bags will be rejected and will not be collected.

Recycling materials must be clean and empty before being loosely placed in marked recycling containers. It is the residents responsibility to provide acceptable recycled materials in this manner. All plastic bags are banned materials for recycling. This applies to all methods of disposal; residential curbside, multi-family containers and the Township Recycling Center.  While plastic bags are accepted by some participating stores, plastic bags placed in the recycling stream are not recovered during processing, in fact the bags jam the processing equipment, which leads to increased disposal costs or rejection at the material recovery facility.  Effective February 3, 2020, recycling that is placed in plastic bags or that contain plastic bags will be identified by a sticker placed on the bag(s)/container, and WILL NOT BE COLLECTED by the contractor.  The resident will be responsible for removing the plastic bags, and either bring the materials to Howell’s Recycle Yard at 278 Old Tavern Road, or wait until their next scheduled collection.  Thank You for your anticipated cooperation.
