[ARCHIVED] Severe Weather Update

The Howell Township Office of Emergency Management is closely monitoring approaching Nor’easter “Nemo”. The National Weather Service and has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow which is in effect from 3 pm Friday through Saturday morning.
Very hazardous travel is expected for the evening commute. We want to remind all residents to exercise extreme caution if you have to drive during the storm. Follow the rules of the road, stay alert and respect the weather elements that may impact your drive. There is still concern for flash flooding, possible downed trees, power lines and power outages due to the anticipated high winds.
JCPL has communicated to us that based on current forecasts; they have activated their storm preparation and restoration process and are proactively staging additional out-of-state First Energy crews in New Jersey to get them in position ahead of the snow to minimize the impact the severe weather could have on their customers.
Based on weather conditions, our Emergency Operations Command, emergency personnel, administration and public works will be ready. We will continue to track this event and provide further updates and changes as necessary.
