On Saturday, April 26, 2014, starting around 9:00am, BSA Troop 258 plans to be at Soldier Memorial Park (Lakewood Farmingdale Road, Howell) working along the stream banks of Squankum Brook to spread excavated material from the brook including branches and miscellaneous vegetation that were piled up during the stream restoration work done over the winter months. The material and some of the vegetation are blocking flows from the low lying areas. The work will help remove this material in the flood plain and restore the disturbed areas resulting from the stream enhancement project that creates habitat for native fishes, frogs, salamanders and land animals living along the brook.
Tools needed for the work detail are:
Gloves, Shovels, Rakes, Garden shears, Axes, Hand saws, 5 gallon buckets, Wheel barrows
Any help with the restoration work including materials or volunteer groups would be appreciated!
