VOORHEES, N.J. August 23, 2012 – New Jersey American Water customers in Monmouth County are no longer restricted to watering their lawns on certain days of the week. The company has ended the schedule of odd/even outdoor watering which had been in effect since early July.
“Thanks to our customers’ cooperation, along with the return of precipitation and cooler weather, we have reached a point that watering restrictions are no longer necessary,” said Stephen P. Schmitt, vice president of operations for New Jersey American Water. “This had been a very hot, dry summer at times and we appreciate our customers for following the odd/even schedule which helped us maintain water service and fire protection for Monmouth County.”
While customers are no longer restricted on lawn watering use, the company always encourages customers to conserve water inside and outside of their homes, and to use water wisely. Significant increases in water demand could result in the reimplementation of water use guidelines.
