Tree City USA
For 17 years, Howell Township has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitments to effective urban forest management. Howell Township has achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
Tree City USA signs have been installed in 10 different areas as you are entering Howell Township. For more information on the program, please visit www.arborday.org/TreeCityUSA
