[ARCHIVED] Storm Aftermath

JCP&L is reporting that only a few Howell customers remain without power. If your neighbors have service and you do not, please call 1-888-544-4877.

As you are aware, Howell Township experienced a significant amount of tree damage and downed wires. Our public works department has been working seven days still clearing trees after wires have been removed and picking up the debris. Many residents have not yet even had the opportunity to get their damaged trees cut and to the curb. Our crews will continue to work picking up brush and leaves, however, this will be a daunting task. Weather permitting, we expect it may take many months, not weeks, to fully clean up the storm aftermath. Although our destruction was not nearly the devastation that the shore experienced, because of the physical characteristics of our town, the amount of tree damage was extraordinary.

We appreciate those residents that have assisted us by taking their brush and leaves to the recycling center themselves. Our recycling center, located on Old Tavern Road, will remain open seven days per week from 7:30am-3:00pm as long as necessary.
